The Victorians loved the Dark Sparkle of garnets and so do we. This beautiful antique Bohemian garnet brooch has got it all, with rose cut garnets set in the airy Belle Epoque style. Swags, flowers, stars and dangles, oh my! A many petaled flower sits in a "V" shaped band of garnets. It is crowned with three smaller flowers and the whole piece is swagged with "ribbons" of garnets. A star-shaped dangle supports another small cluster of stones and is flanked by two more inverted teardrop-shaped dangles.  So elaborate. The garnets are set in jeweler's brass, also called garnet gold for its popular use in the Bohemian garnet jewels of the era. This piece is beautifully constructed, with layers of brass riveted together to create depth. It has both a pin and a bale, so it may be worn as both a brooch and a necklace. Circa 1880.
